Created in collaboration with Grammy®-winning producer Butch Vig With instantly hyped vocals that cut through the mix and a sound that is dripping with character, Butch Vig Vocals now gives everyone the opportunity to work with the sound of a true rock innovator. The celebrated producer ushered in the sound of distorted vocals in a beautifully musical way, and this feature is an integral part of the sound that the Butch Vig Vocals plugin faithfully recreates.ĭesigned for those looking for a creative approach to shaping vocals, Butch Vig Vocals features intuitive EQ controls, a compressor and a de-esser, and several tools for coloring your sound in numerous shades, including Tube and Solid State saturation, a unique Focus knob, and other inspiring features, all carefully crafted by Butch himself to help you realize your vocal vision. One of the defining elements of the “Butch Vig Sound” is Vig's unique vocal stamp. From Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins to Foo Fighters, Green Day and his own band Garbage, Butch Vig has contributed his signature sound to some of the most legendary albums of the modern rock era. Now that it's out of the way I can leave them be for awhile.Widely considered one of the most influential rock producers of recent decades, Butch Vig helped spawn an entirely new rock genre. Sorry, I just hadn't had my annual Waves rant so far this year. Oh sure, it's absolutely awful, a perfect example of how not to do an ergonomic design. I will, however, give them credit for the imaginative UI. Waves will come to the rescue next year with the "One-knob Rick Rubin Vox in a Box". The rubes will buy this one and will still be unhappy with their mixes.

But this trend toward dumbed-down plugins isn't doing anyone any favors. And every bit as good as competitors' equivalent products that sell for half as much. Not that the products are bad - so far all I've tried have been decent. Butch only needs one knob, and he's got a Grammy. Mostly, you don't have to deal with all those confusing knobs that are on your other comps. You can save some mouse clicks by not having to load your usual compressor and de-esser. That if you specify 1 KHz it might select 1.5 KHz because that's what Butch would have selected? More likely, it means the frequency knob has no numbers on it. WAVES BUTCH VIG VOCALS SOFTWARE
Obviously different systems will behave differently because of "different" hardware and software interaction. Took me while to actually try waves, listened to all the horror stories etc, then took the plunge, and it's been smooth sailing ever since, just wish I didn't wait so long. I use heaps of waves stuff, 'almost' exclusively, never had any problems with or thought the CPU usage was high, no issues with waves shell either, easy install, a breeze, and for me the easiest plugins to use and get the sound I am looking for with the least effort. Been looking forward to this since they announced it back around Xmas, hate the look of it, but it makes up for that :)
